Spy Shots: 2008 Dodge Magnum SRT-8
Brenda Priddy and her lens-wielding henchmen caught a brief, yet undisguised glimpse of the revised Magnum SRT-8, expected to debut next month at the Detroit auto show. The changes are striking, with the Magnum's front-clip taking the brunt of the alterations, beginning with a set of rectangular headlamps whose downsized line reduces the opening of the grill. A modified front bumper sports a set of chrome strips, while the hood looks like its been pulled straight from the Charger, donning a sizeable powerbulge and scoop. Although shots of the rear weren't available, the shooters claim that the taillights also benefit from a few tweaks.
Under the hood, Dodge decided to stay with the 6.1-liter HEMI powerplant, mated to a five-speed manumatic that's had a software overhaul to produce smoother, quicker shifts.
A revised interior is also in the cards, but we'll all have to wait until its official appearance in Motor City next month for all the changes.

It certainly does have a nicer appeal to it than the previous magnum. I'd have to see it in real life to make a final judgement on it though.

I wonder when they will retire that ridiculous "beak" grille on the Charger?

If they can update the awful interior then I'm all for it. I'm sorry but interior forms that look like intersected cardboard boxes just don't do it for me.

Can ChryCo finally treat its customers with some mature respect and offer a friggin MANUAL transmission behind their mighty V-8 sedans/wagons???????
Get ZF or GETRAG on speed dial.
We all are not the typical FAT, LAZY, STUPID, "Putt 'er in Drive and nail 'er", left-leg challenged, white-belt-wearing, "New Yorker Brougham Delux LE" buying Americans.

Projectors-good, putting the turn signals under the projectors-bad.
7g-tronic? not even an axle ratio change is needed.

Hopefully the final product will look better. The design as one can see from this picture is horrible. There is no aestethics whatsoever and it looks like a 4th grader designed the headlamps (simple square). The headlights are like the eyes of the car, its stance can make a ca look agressive, refined, reserved or plain boring. This is boring.

Although not as classy, this is kind of like the Chevy Nomad of this generation... yes its four door but its a station wagon that makes your jaw drop to the floor when you see it take off...

Nice, I may just have to trade in my charger for one... besides i've wanted an SRT8 magnum for the better part of a year now... i just cant ever seem to find one in stock anywhere.
Its a station wagon, yes i know, but i've always liked the magnum since it was released. and the refreshing looks a lot more stylish to me.

Hmmm -- the grille looks too conservative for the rear half of the car, in these photos (Ya have to go to the "read" button, which I always find silly) -- remembering that the hood scoop wont be on most models.
Might be the typical Detroit reaction of dumbing down an adventurous design mid-run.
It does look good, just not on the edge of nasty and mean, like the present car.

Bob - FYI - The reason you have to click the 'read' link is because we are not able to publish spy photos that aren't ours. Unless we pay for them, all we can give you is the snippet you see. We're working on funding for our own, so hopefully you'll be seeing full size pics soon.

Ugh.
Now that I've finally managed to load speedsportlife.com, it looks like a throwback to early 90's dodge design. It seriously looks like a Shadow or Dynasty.
They should scrap that fascia and send the entire design team responsible for it to the unemployment line.
How do they expect this bland, boring front end to maintain the Magnum's badass attitude?

Much nicer look to the car. Cleaner. I wonder if they will pass the nicer headlight and grill treatment onto the normal Magmum (toned down of course).
